Hiya,

The other day I encountered a scenario where I wanted all LC termies, then later on I fancied another game with my TH/SS termies. So Should I buy extra terminators for all scenarios?
No.... If you remember my post before - Magnets!!!!

So since I save money by getting AoBR terminators then modding them into what I want, I decided to save more money by getting the few bits and magnetising arms!

I magnetised:
7 Storm Bolters
1 Flamer
5 Power Fists
2 Chain Fists
1 Power Sword
2 Sets of Lightening Claws

A quick update:

Today I finished off my Angels of Absolution.. almost :P
I need to make my plasma cannon, plasma gun and the sarge. These guys are the aobr marines, and I did an earlier post on the construction and painting here. I dont feel strongly about these guys, as I do my Dark Angels... I've found them a challenge to paint, as I cant hide mistakes as easily. I'm almost happy with them at least.

Also, my Tyranids Codex arrived today from waylandgames.co.uk!

Today I finished my dreadnought.

After much faffing about cutting him, turning him, adding a new custom sarcophagus and lil icon. I am really really happy with his outcome.

He may not be the best painted sex machine on the planet, and his CCW may have a crappy claw that has a bad joint, bit of greenstuff in the future will sort that. ^.^

My next challenge will be touching up a few details, learning better techniques and adding his name on his banner!

So I wanted have some assualt terminators.. but I wanted to save money... I was going to convert my lil terminator's from standard AoBR Power fist and Storm bolter to.....

So I decided I'd first do a pair of chainfists, this was easily done in two very quick steps.

• I cut the chainsword handle off, then the actual chainsword into two pieces using my craft knife.
  
• I then attached the chainsword segments to the bottom of my fists, just against the power supply where it joined the power fist, I used simple plastic glue for this part.
  

Bam, chainfists within seconds :D
easy, simple and fast!

Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield.

I then decided to get a little bit more adventurous.
I got some plastic tubing and plastic card.
I used again my plastic glue, craft knife, file and for the plastic tubing a pair of clippers I use for removing my models from the sprue.

Shield.

• On the plasticard I drew out a storm shield using the space marines codex book as a rough guide in size.
• I then cut along the card carefully with my craft knife. The card was a little thick so I cut heavily a square around the actual shield then did the detail afterwards. I was unable to cut straight through so I would cut a groove then carefully "snap" it off.
  
• I then attached a little bit of space marine icongraphy, in particular my dark angel symbol and some incense using a bit of glue.
  
• I then filed the power fist to be a bit flatter.
• I then carefully glued the plasticard stormshield to his arm.
  

Thunderhammer

• I carefully cut away the storm bolter (so I was able to use it in the future), and filed a opening in his hand for him to hold the plastic tubing.
• I took a length of tubing and clipped it using the clippers then filed the ends to even the surface.
  
• I then stuck a melta grenade at the bottom of the rob to give it a pommel, just for looks ;)
• I then cut two Ork Nobz chain axe's and filed them down, I then stuck the pair back to back to be the "hammer".
• I added a bit of dark angels icongraphy and bam, I have a thunder hammer.
• I then got some greenstuff and gently rolled a cable, randomly attached it to the hammer and to an arm joint.
  

Slapped it all together and dada!

The Assault on Black Reach boxset is fantastic.
I am sure most of you know this and its old news but the boxset includes...

A tiny A5 no fluff 5th edition rulebook, an A4 starter guide with a brief introduction to the game rules, how to paint figures and various fancy high gloss pictures of the models.
Dice, with a scatter dice and blast templates.

Then for the figures it boasts:

• Space Marine Captain
• Tactical Squad
• Dreadnought
• Terminator Squad
• Ork Warboss
• Nobz Mob
• Deffkoptas
• Ork Boyz

If you notice the sprues have been cut and separated as the space marines and orks share the sprues. This is worthy to note if two friends plan to buy a boxset each and trade the units to bolster one anothers armies.

The AoBR set models are constructed in what people refer to as easy mode. Simply snapping models together with the minimal use of glue. I however will be using poly cement (plastic glue) it works in a manner of melting the plastic together to set it as one solid. It can emit fumes so please use it in a well ventilated area.

I will be constructing the dreadnought later, and whilst its immensely easy I will add a few pictures of the process for those wondering what people mean by "snapping" together.
I will clean the model up, removing the flashing (mold lines) with a craft knife and or gentle file depending on the area on the model. Take care when using the knife, one can cut themselves!

So I got back today and whooped with joy as I saw AoBR in its glory waiting for me.

I opened it up to reveal....
I plan to trade the Ork Sprues with my mates, to allow me more marines.
I do however think this guy below is awesome:I plan to cut the figures from the sprues then clean them up, and assemble the warboss first then I will hold back painting after the initial base coat. I want this guy to be done in glory.

I'm off to work now, and I finish my shift late, so I might cut the rest of the sprues and assemble my marines. Oooooh! Dreadnought!

I will post a more detailed account into what you actually get in AoBR.
