Hiya, so its been a while as recently I've been knuckling down with my revision for my upcoming exams. It sucks but I thought I'd update you guys about my Tyranids *cheers* and my few games I managed.

The Games.
In between revision I have managed to fit a few games in, three games in which I lost two. I feel my army list is very good versus meq (marine equivalent) but not horde armies. My list, found here is 1750pt, I however played three 1500pt games and I removed the land raider from the last to make it 1500pts.

I fought the Grey Knights in an objective game and let my combat squadded dark angels sit on objectives whilst my terminators went in for contesting with my bikes flanking up the edge. On turn five I flew over my land speeder and contested winning me the game with 2 objectives owned, 1 contested and 1 to the enemy.

I fought two games against an ork horde, and my ass was handed to me.. twice. I just couldnt seem to stop them, it felt like I lacked firepower. He fielded Ghazghkull(sp?) with nobz and 2 groups of 30 odd boyz, 6 killerkans a battlewagon and 3 copters. I will do a better report when Ih ave time, but.... any advice? please?

Tyranids.
So I now posses a nice group of termagaunts, some genestealers, spore mines and a couple of terrain pieces I plan to turn to objectives. Whilst I got the unpainted grey ones from Drazilek I managed to get the rest for a fiver from a local club member, Nice!

My slowly growing horde.

Whilst I dont plan to do anything with these guys until after my exams (June! BOOOO) I am proud to have them sitting about my lot. I also recieved my metal lictor in the post the other day. I love it.

I cant wait to get painting and show you all my colour schemes I have in mind. I have 3 and I need help deciding! :P

Well thats it for now, I am still about, just buried in books... not codex.. science books *sobs*...

Today I finished up the conversion process of my AoBR terminators.

I now have, 2 TH/SS (custom built), 2 LC (ordered from bits&kits), 1 chainfist (so so easily done) and my HQ Belial or aka Klaxxon.

We will destroy you with our gleaming primer aroma! SNIFF!

With Klaxxon, I decided to use a normal aobr terminator, I cut his waist (a practice I did on a few random squad members to adjust the poses) then turned him, oh so slightly.
I got the feathered helm from bits and kits and simply stuck it on the side.
I really didnt know if I liked the outcome and toyed with the idea of putting them in various positions, I finally settled with the good old, timless decision making phrase... Fuck it.

I greenstuffed his lioncloth and a cloak in the motion of blowing backwards, as if standing against the wind. Unforntunatly in the camera shots you cannot actually see the cloak.
I also greenstuffed a pair of feathers which sit on his shoulderpad.

I grabbed a random chainsword and cut the very tip off and stuck it under his stormbolter to give his bolter a bit more character. I then gave him the deathwing sword.

Also used some slate from the beach, for more free basing ideas check out Ron's post here.

Once I have painted him I will give you angles so you can see the details, but for now a simple close up....

Klaxxon on a rock

For now I will put my terminators aside and finish my Ravenwing and Predator.

Painted force so far...

So I thought I'd update you with a group picture of my force...

Siren of Retrubution, stage 1.

So far the two tactical squads lack the heavy weapons, including Las-cannon, Plasma Cannon and Plasma gun.

Painting
1 Terminator Squad
Predator
Ravenwing Squadron
Attack Bike
Land Speeder

Assembling
1 Terminator Squad - to be converted.

Update
So as my exams approach, my revision increases and my time painting, converting and playing will decrease. I will continue to blog of course but do expect a big push in progress as we hit June.

I also have a small group of Gaunts, after my painting of Dark Angels I shall basecoat and do some experimental colour schemes for my future Hive. Any suggestions?

For today, I have been revising bar this break of blogging. I will continue to revise but this evening I shall paint something, be it a bike, terminator, or my predator tank *rubs chin*... decisions....

Cheers for now.

Angels of Absolution pt2

A quick update:

Feel the wrath of the lion

Today I finished off my Angels of Absolution.. almost :P
I need to make my plasma cannon, plasma gun and the sarge. These guys are the aobr marines, and I did an earlier post on the construction and painting here. I dont feel strongly about these guys, as I do my Dark Angels... I've found them a challenge to paint, as I cant hide mistakes as easily. I'm almost happy with them at least.

Also, my Tyranids Codex arrived today from waylandgames.co.uk!

My codices and rulebook.

Yes, I will be starting a Tyranid army soon, I also ordered my Tomb of Kings Fantasy Armies book. So my blog will be including the slow and occasional update on those new ventures.

Any good sites anyone know for information on Tomb of Kings?
And what do you think of my Angels?

Drazilek

So, Drazilek from Sons of Seth was over for a couple of days and between many midnight 24hour snack runs, vast amounts of piss taking and in between crawling through slow 1300-1500pt games we set up a table and did some conversions.

Drazilek made a very funky Flesh Tearer Furiso dreadnought, I do have pictures but I will leave him to do the unveiling. I must say its conversion CC arm owns. In the picture below the black mark is his Dread ;)

Farske and Drazilek's workstation, taking up the entire of the room... gf was not pleased.

We played 3 friendly, learning/tutorial games in total, with the scores at a nice even overall draw: W:1, L:1, D:1

Little Cadets!

I acquired a camera!
Andddd whilst I did it I got my little sister interested in in WH40k.
*rubs hands* Mauahauaha.

So with my newly acquired camera and tutorial games with my sister I took some pics of our kitchen table and the set-up. It was a small battlefield, but the fluff was a a heavy fog clearing and suddenly two space marine armies were ontop of each other, miscommunication with a stench of chaos about it caused the forces to fight.

First game, with easy mode deployment.

The armies were equal and consisted on:
  • Captain
  • 2xTactical Squad with ML and Flamer
  • Dreadnought
  • Landspeeder with MM or HB
  • Predator with Autocannons and Lascannons (one was a razorback as a proxy)
  • Terminator squad
She beat me in the first game!
Second game ... she won.. :O
The last two games I snatched victory back and we ended the weekend in a draw... thats easier to swallow than a loss I guess!

Capture the three barrels/objectives. As you can see one was on the Imperial Pringles tower.

We played a simple tutorial game, then I found out more stuff from my early days. My custom massive bridge, and we used the clover tub with a yogurt pot on as a reactor which was dangerous terrain... and the pringles as a tower which required 6inch's to move up, but it gave you a +2 save once up there.

Capture the bridge
Bridge captured, (this game ended early and was not finished)

We had to base a mission all around the bridge of course!

So I'm back and I have my camera, Ill post up the few things I did including pictures of my simple magnetic predator, and magnetic landspeeder weapons.

Until then...

Magnets and updates

Magnets

So my gf sneakily ordered some magnets for me and they arrived this morning. I've had a simple childlike play with them and they are powerful!
I got them from guysmagnets.com and they got here the day after order, and kept her updated. Very chuffed.

Picture from www.guysmagnet.com

So my plans for my two sets of magnets are to magnetise:
  • My tank so I can change it from predator to rhino and have it as a sturdy model on the table.
  • My Landspeeders so they can be removed from the flying bases.
  • My Dreadnought arms.
  • My HQ terminator weapons.
Camera
My sibling, Berkana, has offered me a camera to borrow. So next week, commencing Monday blogs with pictures will be forthcoming with consistancy. I have a lot to update on. On that note I shall not magnetize my tank yet, so I can record and share those steps with you.
Thanks Berkana!

Projects
Upcoming projects I plan to do, bar the magnetising are:
  • Belial, a terminator modification.
  • AoBR Dreadnought MM arm to various weapons.
  • AoBR Dreadnought to look more... dark angel.
  • Powerplant Terrain.
  • A diorama of some kind, which will be my objective markers. (did I use that grammer correctly?).
  • Plasticard drop-pod.

So yeah, updates soon.
Thanks to everyone so far following my adventure into the warhammer world. I feel I will be here a long time.

Cheers

Boxes

A long time ago my dad got me a toolbox. It was used at first for stationary as I used to play "work" and pretend it was my briefcase. After that I used it for my warhammer, then I used it for actual tools and now its turned back into warhammer.
Its kinda sentimental and its cheap, while it may not be ideal...

The Modification.

I took the top and placed a large A3 piece of foam over the top, I then cut out the pieces ideal for the squares, see below:

I then placed my marines on top, standing nicely next to one another.

I then got some cardboard... and this is the real botch job... I cut the cardboard out the size of the tray and glued the foam on top of it with two squares cut out. I then took those cut pieces and glued them to the underside of the cardboard to go directly on my standing space marine heads.

I then placed the cardboard slip on top and where the gaps I left were I was able to place my landspeeders, bikes, termies and dread.

I was then able to close the lid nicely and it all sat snug.
My future goal is to put some foam on the lid of the actual toolbox as to allow a bit more padding if something accidental happens or I'm in a rush.
I also have started collecting used chinese takeaway boxes, basically microwavable boxes like:

I added some foam to the bottom and bam, I can fit a squad of marines in that easily.
It works, its simple and I can paint the box anyway I want.

I have no camera again. :~(

I have given the camera back to Tek. Thanks Tek!
I will be writing blogs but alas minus pictures for a while. I will be attempting to source a more permanent camera soon.
Cheers

Tank Detail

Right

Today I slapped some back on the tank and painted a little bit of detail on the controls inside. I've done it very sloppy however.. whos gonna see it up close? :D

Control Panel

I also used some greenstuff to turn my chainswords into choppas. In particular Power Choppas.
I also painted bronzed flesh on the rest of my tactical marines and added the loincloths. I also cut my space marine AoBR captain bolter away and added greenstuff for an arm and added a boltpistol to suit my Dark Angels in the future.

WIP - Angels and Tank
So there we go, my updates for now.
I have a game tomorrow woot!
