Missilely Death!

Hiya,


I'm currently half way through my exams. Luckily though my next one is not till next wednesday. Its almost a week! :D

So, I got back and assembled my whirlwind bit, my cyclone missile launcher, and my typhoon attachments.

I've been designing a new army list and I'm going to try a battle with the new list, I shall be putting it up afterwards. I may be going to the cardiff carnage tournament (obviously 40k) in august and I shall be moving from 1500pt games to 1750pts starting next week. I shall put up a few example builds and test them out and get feedback.

Also my camera screen has cracked and now my pictures are done blind, AND they dont focus... every shot looks awful... this picture was selected out of nearly 20.

Missile's Ahoy!

Land Raider Crusader came today and the box feels soft!
I clawed it open and looked over the instructions.... fair enough I thought, shouldnt be too hard.
I did forget to glue the lights in and had to rip it apart.

Half way there....

I've made my pieces, and alot of it is blue tac at the moe (sticky tac) so I can figure what to magnetise for easier transport.

I'll leave it be for now, but I'm trying my new army list tomorrow, which I'll post up in the future, its a big difference and to me feels more Dark Angel-y ... anyway..

Magnets - Tank and L-Speeder

Hiya

So I have a little time today, so a brief update.
Magnets!!!

Predator

Predator "Aura" - Autocannon and Lascannons.

So I glued the majority of the tank together, I however put magnets in the side hatches, to allow a rhino/predator conversion within seconds.

I have future plans to magnetise the lascannons construction to allow me to adjust it from heavy bolters to lascannons quickly. However, thats for next time ;)

Landspeeder
I also took my landspeeder and decided to give it real adaptability, I remade the gunners weapon placement and added a magnet.

I then drilled a hole in the weapons and placed a magnets inside each one.

the attachment look natural, and the magnets hidden.


As you can see, effective, simple and very easy.
So what shall I use today... HB or Melta? :D

Landspeeder Assembly Part 1

I realised last night I only had one landspeeder assembled, so I found out my sprues and sighed, but thought why not show the process.

As we can see it looks a fairly simple but alas it is not.
When gluing you have to sit and hold it tightly, but I figure another way.
Whilst I held my last one I leaned it against the table, hard, then I held it in my armpit.. which failed miserably. I finally settled on elastic bands.

Once the landspeeder is together and gluing elastic bands really work wonders.

First I played around with the main bulky parts and quickly remember how to construct the inside and base.

I then glued the base plate to the base of the speeder, and held it tightly to ensure it was a snug fit. For some reason the landspeeder just wants to come apart naturally.

Fairly easy huh, but I soon realised if I glued all this together I would get a repeat of my last landspeeder. massive spaces of unpainted grey inside. This time I'm prepared so I did a dry brushing technique on my cockpit and legs.

Dry brushing is where you get a fairly large brush, dip it in the paint but then remove a large amount of it so its almost a dry brush, hence... dry brushing.

I used this method to give my inside very basic look without hardly any effort. I will continue to dry brush my entire model before gluing anything else. As I am doing ravenwing my model will be black anyway.

I then clipped my little guy (forgot to clean him up) and glued him together. I thought it was noteworthy that its advisable to paint the guys completely before you put them in the landspeeder. So As I dont want to then wreck him by accident I will be painting the entire model in steps before gluing.

After base coating

I plan to next paint the rest of the parts, add detail and glue it together then touch it up.
